Hello! I am here late in the day today which is not the usual, but when I remembered that the holiday was coming right up at the end of the week, I wanted to reach out. Many of you are already familiar with divinations, something I’ve done for years, most often on one of the cross-quarter days of the year, but if you are not you can learn more about them here.
Traditionally called Lammas, the cross-quarter of this season is often overlooked due to the predominance of industrialization on the planet these days. In the past, it was the moment when the colors of Summer in the Northern hemisphere that were bright and vivid began to deepen and fade, to show the turn of the light and the heat, the moment when the harvest began. In the Southern hemisphere, you will recognize this as the moment when you know that Spring will be coming, when things begin to stir from the depth of slumber and stillness into movement and growth, the moment for contemplation and commitment. Either way, the mid-point is always an auspicious time to take a pause, to reflect and contemplate things that might want to be seeded or stored, harvested or composted in keeping with both individual and collective consciousness.
I love to celebrate these earth holidays, these ways that humans have always aligned with the forces of the earth, the sun, the moon and the elements. Moments such as these are rich with insight and creativity when we open ourselves to engage with them.
Let's celebrate together!
